The DAIS Physical Education Department is excited to announce DASL. What is DASL you ask? DASL is short for Dostyk After-School League. The new league is for students in grades 1-8. It will begin on September 11, 2017 in the Dostyk gym. Students in grades 1-4 will participate on Wednesdays from 3:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. Grade 5-8 students will participate at the same time on Wednesday from 4:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.

The main objectives for DASL is as follows:

    1. Encourage a positive, a team environment so DAIS students can experience a competitive league.
    2. Encourage fair play, and reinforce behaviors that demonstrate respect for all players, coaches, referees, league organizers and other league contributors.
    3. Encourage cooperation among team members.
    4. To do all of the above while having fun!

Students who are interested in the joining the league will be placed on one of three teams and will remain on that team until the end of the After-School Program. This year, the teams will compete in four different sports: ES Soccer/MS Aussie Rules, floor hockey, Basketball and crick-ball. Each activity will last for six sessions and will commence with a finals match on a Friday night. Total points will be calculated by adding the elementary team points together with their counterparts’ points in the middle school. When both finals are complete the combined team points from the entire season will be added up to determine first, second and third place.
