During these days, we’re fixing some bugs that have been reported. The two most important were:
- The 30 characters limit in the registration email that has caused problems to some users. Now, you can use email addresses up to 75 characters long, which should be enough;
- The home/away distribution when generating the schedule. Now they’re perfectly balanced (same number of home/away) and alternated (never more than 2 home or 2 away following).

Finally, after so many requests, you can now create tournaments with odd number of participants.
In round-robin, there will be 1 competitor resting at every round. Whereas, in brackets there will be some competitors that will have a harder life than others! ;-)
Just put the effective number of players or teams and Konkuri will do the rest of the work for you.
Have fun!

A few days ago, ReadWriteWeb published a very interesting article: “6 Awesome Apps Begging to Be Developed”.
Guess what? The #1 application is: “Real-Time Mobile & Web Sports App”.
They say: “somebody needs to create an agnostic web and mobile application to deliver real-time data.
And then “Sports fans need up-to-the-instant scores, game developments, news on teams and players, and stats relating to fantasy league play”.
This is music to our ears. And, it sounds very familiar to some features we have in mind for Konkuri.
Matteo wrote a comment on the post, with a brief presentation of our project and philosophy.

Our philosophy is: tournament management must be simple. That’s why in Konkuri the “Create tournament” form will generate directly the league site, that you can both manage and share with friends. Simple, isn’t it? However, reaching such an approach has not been obvious at all.
This way of league management was born just a couple of months ago. In our first prototypes, the “Create tournament” button led you to the administration backend, not to the tournament site. From the backend, you edited the content and had to go to the frontend to see it published, like in the typical Wordpress or Blogger administration.

But, unlike a blog, managing a tournament doesn’t require many drafts. Most of the time, you want to enter the scores and see the table updates. That’s it. So, we have decided to merge backend and frontend into a dynamic interface with contextual administration links, visible only by the tournament administrator.

We have used and tested both versions and, believe us, this second one is so much smarter! You will enjoy it a lot.

This is a great time for us. We’re so excited to see our tournament management web application getting real. Konkuri beta is finally online and now you too can use it to create, manage and publish your tournaments.
Before going out with the crew having some (a lot of) beers and partying, just a quick note.
Remember that this is a beta version. You might find bugs. And, you might experience slow performance on some features. If you want to help us make it work better, reporting bugs, or suggesting ideas to improve it, we will appreciate it a lot: please, use our Feedback forum.
If you are looking for a more complete version, follow the updates on our blog, or on Facebook and Twitter: you will be surprised to see how Konkuri will grow month by month.
Have fun!! And thank you in advance for your precious support.

We’re glad to introduce you Konkuri, the easiest way to create and manage your tournament.
The idea came from a personal need: we wanted to organize a tournament among friends and publish the results online.
It should have been easy in the web 2.0 era, right? Unfortunately, the experience turned into a big disappointment: in fact, all the existing solutions did not match our needs of simplicity and elegance.
We are a web agency and, at the time, we were looking for a new project to develop: fill in the blanks ;-)
So, Konkuri was born to let you:
- create and manage your tournament smoothly and easily;
- have a beautiful and usable tournament website.
We are planning to launch in June 2009, so stay tuned!
