Konkuri adds the “Follow” tournament feature

Konkuri introduces the concept of “following” a tournament. When you find a tournament that you would like to get updates on about results, messages and comments, click on the “follow” button next to the name.

In your home page, you will have the stream of all the tournaments you are following. This allows you to keep track of the competitions you’re interesed in without having to visit every single tournament. Of course, you can decide to “unfollow” a tournament at any time. Konkuri won’t send a notification when you unfollow.

If you’re a tournament administrator, this is a great tool to let your audience be informed on the competition updates and/or to promote your tournament externally to help spread the word to new spectators and fans.

A brand new conversation system

Effective communication between the organizer and the participants, as well as simple trash talking between friends, is a key aspect of a tournament’s life. That’s why Konkuri has developed a much more advanced way to create and follow the conversation inside the competition.

First of all, not only the tournament’s administrator but also followers and registered users will be able to write messages on the dashboard. The form to add a message has become a single text area which is immediately available. If you want to create a title, just press return after the first line.

And here we go: your message will be published in the dashboard. You can also share your post on Facebook or Twitter, if you want.

When you post content on the dashboard, other users will be able to comment on it. You can also comment on matches and on live results. You will receive e-mail notifications when someone adds a comment on a post you’written or on a conversation where you’ve added a comment.

Then, since a tournament discussions can get pretty hot, we’ve created some tools to let the administrator have full control on the conversation and publish only appropriate content. The tournament administrator will be able to:

  • delete any content at any time
  • pre-moderate comments before publishing
  • block users from writing on the dashboard
  • set specific discussion permissions to the different users: followers, registered Konkuri users, anonymous users

2 new dashboard features: latest round jumps over delayed matches and feeds filters

During the latest weeks we’ve revised completely our CSS coding, making it clean, rational and stable. This is a big improvement (though not visible to you), which will allow us to develop the next features much more reliably.

Talking about what you can see, we’ve implemented the most requested feature in our feedback forum: the dashboard now moves forward to the latest round completed, or the next round with at least 1 result. So, it won’t stop anymore to an old round with a delayed match.

We’ve also added feeds filters that will allow you to choose between posts, results or comments. And, as you will notice when your tournament gets to an end, we’ve redesigned the podium and moved it to the right.

Konkuri launches the Groups/Playoffs tournament system!

It’s finally online the most voted feature request in our forum: starting from today you can create and manage Groups/Playoffs tournaments!

It’s the exciting multi-stage competition used by the FIFA World Cup, the Volleyball World Cup and many others.

In Konkuri managing this system is simple and intuitive. As you click on the “Create tournament” button, Konkuri will automatically suggest the group splitting that fits best your competitors number. Then you can add or delete groups, change the participants number for each group, drag and drop participants between groups, and so on.

You can also allocate the full schedule of pairings across the bracket before the start of the tournament For instance, you can make the winner of group A play against the runner-up of group D.

And, as the tournament starts to hot up, Konkuri will place automatically the qualifiers of each group (and eventual repechages) in the brackets, to let you start the final stage.

As usual, with Konkuri is easier to do things than to describe them. Try to believe!

Single set, multiple round-robin and chessmate!

The new features we present this week are:

  • single set for all racket sports
  • multiple round-robin for fantasy sports
  • 2 new games in our roster: Chess and Checkers

single set, multiple round-robin, chess, checkers

Indeed, we’re constantly working to improve Konkuri features and satisfy our users needs. These new components will help many of you, included the ones who wrote us to suggest them.

For example Mauro from Italy, who plays Fantasy football: thanks to the multiple round-robin he will be able to follow all the italian football league, even if he plays with few friends. Again, Jason from USA, who organizes a Tennis tournament with 1 set matches. Last but not least, Joseph from the Netherlands, who urged us to insert Chess. From now on it will be possible to create Chess and Checkers round-robin and brackets tournaments with this scoring system: 1 point for a win, 0,5 points for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Keep on following us and sending us your suggestions. Konkuri was born for you and everyone can contribute to its growth!

Wrestling added to Konkuri

Wrestling has been added to Konkuri’s sport list. So, from now on, you can use Konkuri to organize your Wrestling tournaments. Have fun!

New feature: odd number of participants!

Finally, after so many requests, you can now create tournaments with odd number of participants.

In round-robin, there will be 1 competitor resting at every round. Whereas, in brackets there will be some competitors that will have a harder life than others! ;-)

Just put the effective number of players or teams and Konkuri will do the rest of the work for you.

Have fun!

A smart league management approach

Our philosophy is: tournament management must be simple. That’s why in Konkuri the “Create tournament” form will generate directly the league site, that you can both manage and share with friends. Simple, isn’t it? However, reaching such an approach has not been obvious at all.

This way of league management was born just a couple of months ago. In our first prototypes, the “Create tournament” button led you to the administration backend, not to the tournament site. From the backend, you edited the content and had to go to the frontend to see it published, like in the typical Wordpress or Blogger administration.

create-previous

But, unlike a blog, managing a tournament doesn’t require many drafts. Most of the time, you want to enter the scores and see the table updates. That’s it. So, we have decided to merge backend and frontend into a dynamic interface with contextual administration links, visible only by the tournament administrator.

create-now

We have used and tested both versions and, believe us, this second one is so much smarter! You will enjoy it a lot.
